Los Angeles – Obscure athlete and Former USC and Buffalo Bills running back O.J. Simpson has passed away in his home after a long battle with cancer. He was Seventy-Six years old. Simpson first rose to prominence during his years at the University of Southern California, where he earned the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award, and Walter Camp Award among many other accolades.

He carried that gridiron success to the National Football League, where he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills with the first overall pick. With the Bills, he dominated at the running back position. In 1973, he became the first running back to rush for two thousand yards in a season. This feat was made even more incredible because it occurred prior to the adoption of the sixteen game season in 1978. He won numerous MVP awards as well as additional rushing titles. The only shadow on his NFL resume is his lack of a Super Bowl championship.

After the NFL, he dabbled in film with roles in movies such as “Capricorn One” and “The Naked Gun” as well as being the spokesman for Isotoner gloves. After this he shied away from publicity and slid into obscurity.
