Nashville- Country music trio Lady Antebellum recently changed their name to “Lady A”, dropping the Antebellum as to ‘not offend anyone’ and will use the nickname that they were given by fans more than a decade ago. Just weeks later, The Dixie Chicks, who wallowed into uncharted waters in 2003 when lead singer Natalie Maines denigrated then President George W. Bush during their concert in London, recently deleted the Dixie from their name and will from here on be known as The Chicks (because that doesn’t offend anyone).

In the spirit of progress and empathy, several other musical acts have rethought their monikers and are doing in kind. In the future, Jack White’s American rock duo White Stripes, will be known simply as “Stripes”. Metal Band Guns and Roses will here to fore go by just “Roses”. “I mean who can be offended by roses, right?”, quipped front man Axel Rose. The 80’s British pop icons The Police will now be known as “Defund the Police”, adding to rather than taking away from their name. Those members still alive in Eric Clapton’s revolutionary band Cream will change their name all together to “Coffee” and have gone a step further renaming their classic song White Room to just “Room”. Death metal band White Zombie will take the name “Zombie” because we all know, and fans of The Walking Dead will tell you, that ‘zombies come in all colors.’ Heavy metal’s Megadeth have totally softened their image with the new pseudonym “The Fluffy Kitties”. Punk rock innovators The Sex Pistols were asked if they would remove the Sex from their moniker and become simply “The Pistols”, but remaining band members told everyone to “go piss off!”
