Washington D.C.- In a stunning display of both political agility and cognitive dissonance, the entire Democrat party shifted from the position “If you don’t vote to keep the government running, you hate the American people.” To “If you vote for this bill to keep the government running, you hate the American people,” within ninety seconds of the amended spending bill hit the floor.
While most Politicians are adept at flip-flopping, twenty-seven Democrats were hospitalized for whiplash given the sheer suddenness of the maneuver. “It was awful,” said Tate Menendez, an aid for congressman Maxwell Frost, “One second, Mr. Frost was on X posting about how the republicans were against farmers, then we got the news that a new bill dropped and we could actually read the whole thing before voting… Then Max was on the ground. I thought he’d just fainted at the idea of reading legislation, but when we looked at his phone, he’d gone down trying to post about how American farmers hated the new bill… It just didn’t make any sense.”
As of press time, there is no indication that Mr. Frost has actually read any proposed legislation.
